What We Do

Safety culture is an organization’s values and behaviors, modeled by its leaders and internalized by its members, which serve to make safe performance of work the overriding priority to protect the workers, public, and the environment (U.S. Department of Energy). A healthy safety culture that emphasizes safety over competing goals – where individuals feel free to raise safety concerns without fear of retaliation – is foundational to sustained performance in high risk and high hazard industries.


In our work with safety critical organizations, we have found there are psychological and behavioral aspects of organizational culture that can directly and indirectly increase risk. Changing behaviors requires a deep understanding of complex drivers and a systems view of how behaviors work in the larger context of the organization. At Rogers Leadership Group (RLG), we have the unique ability to apply psychological and behavioral science principles, combined with real world industry and business experience, to help organizations uncover the values, beliefs, and behaviors that may be limiting their performance. 


Developing and maintaining a healthy safety culture is critical for keeping workers and the facility safe as well as for reaching operational excellence. Our work seeks to uncover those leadership and organizational culture aspects that challenge safe performance and partner with you to develop an action plan and implement changes.

The team at Rogers Leadership Group is comprised of seasoned professionals with deep operational, organizational, and safety culture expertise developed in safety-critical industries. Many team members have extensive experience in the utility sector, power generation, and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) operating sites. Steeped in organizational and behavioral science, complemented by years of industry experience, the team at Rogers Leadership Group leverages their expertise in leadership and organizational effectiveness to help leaders examine, understand, and improve their safety culture and performance.

Examining leadership and safety culture and the reinforcing mechanisms of the organization is at the heart of what we do. We utilize a proven multi-method, multi-level approach to assess safety processes, organizational dynamics, systems, communications, leadership, and worker behaviors. 


With an independent point-of-view and open minded, non-judgmental approach to interviewing, we make it safe for employees at every level to talk about their work in a way that makes them feel respected and heard. Through our methodology, we gain valuable insights into experiences, perceptions, and behaviors related to safety in the workplace.


The result is an independent safety culture assessment, presentable at the executive board level, that contains an overall assessment as well as actionable insights and recommendations.
